rhetorical analysis

This is an article i read for my first paper its called The phenomenon of compulsive overeating in a selected group of professional women. It tries to give an explanation as to why women would develop this condition.

Audience: others in health profession

WATCO compulsive overeating on professional women.
Claim: compulsive overeating has an addictive effect on professional women.
Reason: because compulsive overeating had recurrent themes that emerged from the data.
IA: anything that has an addictive effect on professional women has recurrent themes that emerge.

Sufficient: they did qualitative research instead of quantitative. this way researchers could learn what the participant wanted to say instead of having bias multiple choice questions the researchers just generalize.

Typical: This is a typical approach to a research article and how they presented it. they showed their methods and findings. compulsive still does not have a basis as to why people develop it and so the researcher asked those with this addiction.

Accurate: very credible. the author is a professor at a university in the united states. it comes from a well know credible journal. the professor doesn't seem bias, just states the findings.

Relevant: the audience is health professional who will be able to use the information in their field of work and build off of it for further research.
